Opportunities for Marginalised Young People in Stewartry

Our proposal is particularly aimed at marginalised groups such as young people with additional support needs and disabilities, LGBT young people and care experienced young people who experience poverty, discrimination and are the most excluded from opportunities. We want to work with existing youth group to provide additional help with offering free nutritious food, to create new experiences and offer opportunities to improve life skills, increase levels of engagement and ultimately lead to volunteering roles within peer groups.
Annan Athletic Football - Free Football for 12 - 18 year olds

Our project would enable us to offer free football for all of our youths as we restart training. Parents/carers could bring existing and new players without financial worry, knowing their child/ren would reap all of the benefits of exercise, having fun, learning a skill and being part of a team.
Duke of Edinburghs Award - Equiptment for All Langholm

To provide up to date outdoor equipment for more young people in Annandale and Eskdale Ward to complete their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Expeditions in a safe and enjoyable way. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is a programme of practical, cultural and social activities which supports the development of young people. It gives opportunities for personal achievement through adventure, volunteering in the community, personal and social development. It is open to all young people aged 14-25. Our mission is “to inspire, guide and support young people in their self-development and recognise their achievements”.

This 16 week informal education programme offers young people the opportunity to become leaders in the sport of cheerleading and their local community. They will look into issues like mental health, body image, bullying and developing interpersonal skills for the future including communication and self confidence through group work and team building.
The Hub Club - Annan

The Hub Club is a weekly youth Group in Annan for young people ages 12 – 25 years with extra support needs and disabilities who take part in a variety of activities and projects. We would like to take our young people away on an opportunity of a lifetime. We would like to take them to Calvert Lakes Disability Outdoor Centre in Keswick for a 2 night stay in October 2012.
Lockerbie LGBTQI Group

The LGBTQI youth Group meet every Wednesday night in Lockerbie Youth Room, we are a group that are helping to support raising awareness issues surrounding LGBTQI and reducing any related attached stigma as well as being a support group for LGBTQI young people.

Wigtown YA Magazine - Wigtown Festival Company

A young people’s literature, art and culture magazine designed and produced by young people looking for a career in the sector. We aim to develop young peoples career prospects in the sector through training workshops and real-life experience. This free magazine will be distributed to D&G high-schools, libraries and online.
DG Youth Council-Climate Change & Environment Group

We are the Environment & Climate Change Action Group for Dumfries & Galloway Youth Council and we’re applying for funding to cover the costs of training and team-building opportunities that’ll help us be effective in our role. Young people across D&G are worried about their future and the future of our area, country, and planet. The mental and physical well-being of young people and the issues facing our environment are linked and we are applying for funding for training that’ll help us support young people in our communities.
Police Scotland Youth Volunteers

Mental Health & Physical Well-Being Project focussing on healthy minds and healthy bodies. Professionals will provide inputs and practical workshops from cooking to fitness for youths to take part in. The programme will provide youths with knowledge and understanding to educate peers whilst working along-side Youth Engagement Officers in schools.
