Transitioning ‘into care’ brings up a lot of challenges for children and
young people, in Dumfries and Galloway this stress can often be
exaggerated by the rural nature of the region, with young people often
having to move out-with their home-town or village. The ‘Care Bag’
project has been designed by care experienced young people, who feel
that these bags should be available to any child or young person
moving into care. The care bags will contain information about their
placements, the community they are moving to, where they can access
support and comfort items to support them through what is often an extremely difficult time in a child or young person's life.
